About Dr. Justin Garrett

During my psychiatry residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, I had the privilege of receiving comprehensive training in all aspects of psychiatry. I developed a strong foundation in patient care, psychiatric diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment approaches.

My passion for understanding the interplay between mental health and the law led me to pursue specialized training in forensic psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. Through this program, I honed my skills in conducting forensic evaluations.

I am proud to hold board certifications in psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, and addiction medicine, which demonstrate my dedication to providing comprehensive care to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.

I am also experienced in conducting psychiatric assessments for pilots seeking medical clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Human Intervention and Motivation Study (HIMS) program. My goal is to support pilots in their journey towards obtaining medical clearance while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism in the field of aviation psychiatry.

Currently, I serve as a full-time clinical psychiatrist, working in the inpatient psychiatry setting and hold the additional responsibility of serving as the medical director for the department of behavioral health at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
